Support messages are reviewed by Vellumstead Labs. We reply as soon as practical, but response times can vary while Folderwell is in private beta.

Beta and billing status

Installers are sent directly to invited testers. Public checkout is not live. Any later purchase path will be published once the beta and release flow are ready.

Common tasks

Install or request beta access

If you were invited, use the installer link sent with your beta invitation. If the link is missing or no longer works, email support with "Folderwell beta access" in the subject line. Folderwell is not offering a public installer yet.

Choose approved folders

Add only the folders you want Folderwell to inspect, such as Downloads, Desktop, Documents, or a custom folder. Folderwell scans approved folders rather than the entire computer. Review that list before starting a broad cleanup.

Preview, approve, or undo

Check the current name, proposed name or destination, and cleanup outcome before approving an action. Use Folderwell's action history and undo for normal reversible cleanup work. Undo is a convenience, not a backup or guaranteed recovery method.

Review extension permissions

The optional Download Sources extension requests access to download events, the active tab at the moment a download starts, and Folderwell on local loopback. It does not request browsing history, page-content, or arbitrary website access. The extension can be left uninstalled or Download Sources can be turned off in Settings.

How source memory is handled

Remove the extension

Open chrome://extensions or edge://extensions, find Folderwell Download Sources, and choose Remove. This clears the extension's pending local queue and status. Source records already saved by Folderwell remain in Folderwell's local app data.

Chrome and Edge beta

Install Folderwell Download Sources

During beta, the Chrome Web Store listing is Unlisted. It will not appear in Store search. Install it only from the exact link sent with your Folderwell invitation or shown inside a Store-enabled Folderwell build.

  1. Keep the Folderwell desktop app open.
  2. Open Folderwell Settings > Browser and choose Set up extension.
  3. Choose Add to Chrome. The exact Folderwell Download Sources listing opens in Chrome.
  4. On the Store page, choose Add to Chrome, then confirm Add extension.
  5. Open the Folderwell extension icon and confirm it says Connected and ready.
  6. Download one test file, then confirm the popup shows the latest saved source.

If the popup says Folderwell is unavailable, reopen Folderwell and choose Try again. If it says Download Sources is off, turn it on in Settings > Browser. Folderwell still works without the extension; downloaded files simply will not remember their source page.

Protect important files before troubleshooting

Keep an independent backup of files you cannot replace. Folderwell does not provide cloud backup or guaranteed recovery, and its undo history is not a substitute for Windows File History or another backup system.

  • Preview proposed changes before approving a large batch.
  • Pause and make a backup if a suggested destination or cleanup outcome is unclear.
  • Before clearing Folderwell app data or reinstalling, copy any support report draft or settings information you may need later.

Send a useful, privacy-conscious support message

Include:

  • Your Folderwell app version and build ID from Settings > Support.
  • Your Windows version.
  • Whether the issue involves install, scanning, approval, undo, Download Sources, licensing, or billing.
  • What you expected, what happened instead, and the exact error text if one appeared.

Redact personal information before sending screenshots or copied diagnostics. Do not email file contents, full local paths, private filenames, saved notes, source URLs, or a full license key unless the information is necessary and you deliberately choose to share it.

License activation help

If you have a Lemon Squeezy license key for your beta build, use Settings > Plan to activate it.

  • Open Folderwell > Settings > Plan.
  • Paste the license key from Lemon Squeezy.
  • Click Activate. Use Check purchase if you need to refresh access later.
  • Folderwell does not store the raw key, so some refresh or deactivation flows may ask for it again.
